Someone I Used to Know by Tessa Marie
on July 27th 2016
Charlotte was not looking forward to Spring Break. No technology and a boy she can’t stand. But when she realizes the boy is actually a hot guy now, and wants to hang out with her (!) she cant help but think this break may turn into something pretty awesome. But, is he harboring a secret that will challenge their budding relationship?
Who says you can’t have a romantic fling during Spring Break? Charlotte expected this forced family vacation to be a time that she hide away by herself with a book in hand for an entire week. She didn’t care to run after or babysit her little brother. Nor did she care to see the boy that used to pick at and tease her. She just didn’t have time. However, added years on a person can cause a transformation that in this case would be considered pretty irresistible. Charlotte couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Hunter.
Hunter decides to take Charlotte under his wing. Offering outings with his local friends and get togethers just for fun. Charlotte quickly laid the book down for these types of moments with Hunter. At this point Charlotte only views their relationship as a simple friendship, but in a short time things begin to change. Things begin to get very complicated. Other people are added to the equation and Charlotte and Hunter have to decide if a friendship is enough, or do they want more.
With the setting and time frame of this novella only lasting approx. 7 days the author did a great job of creating believable characters with a realistic theme. She worked quickly to ensure that readers would fall in love with Charlotte and Hunter, ultimately, making readers want more. This is the first book/novella that I have read by Tessa Marie. It won’t be my last!
