Cashmere by Temple West
(Website, Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads)Series: Velvet #2
on February 14th 2017
This high-stakes sequel to Velvet proves that when you’re the only human caught in a paranormal war, high school can get a little tricky. With Adrian’s brother trapped in hell, the Praetorian Guard has made Stony Creek their base-of-operations, but Caitlin has a bad feeling they’re more interested in her than in finding Lucian. Caught in a sea of conspiracies and lies, Caitlin and Adrian perform a risky magical procedure in an attempt to protect Caitlin from compulsion.
Relieved that her nightmares have ended, Caitlin is disturbed to find that something even stranger has taken their place.
Determined to get on with her life, even amid a crazy paranormal manhunt, she applies for a competitive summer fashion internship in New York. Searching desperately for answers about what Caitlin might be, how Adrian’s father is involved, and where Lucian has been kidnapped to, Caitlin and Adrian must rely on each other to survive. But when the truth finally comes to light, the consequences are unimaginable.
And the question still haunts them both: even if they survive, how will they deal with the fact that Adrian is immortal and Caitlin is not?
Temple West stopped by to talk nothing about her new book, Cashmere. In case you were wondering what that beautiful specimen of literature was about, scroll down below the interview. An interview full or random questions that have nothing to do with the gorgeous being that is Adrian de la Mara or the hilarious Caitlin Holte. However, there are opinions on pets dressed as miniature humans and superpowers.
1. Would you rather be a novel or a poem?
It entirely depends on who is writing the novel, and who is writing the poem.
2. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of you life, what would it be?
This is a double-edged sword kind of question, and I like it. If I choose a song I love, but I listen to it too much (since it’s the only song I can listen to), then I will probably eventually hate the song. So I should probably choose a song I already dislike (pulling in some Vulcan logic here). Thus I shall choose: the Barney song. “I love you, you love me, we’re an infuriatingly chipper family…”
3. How many stars could you count before you lose count?
Why should I want to count them? Let me instead get lost in them.
4. If you were to direct a movie based off of your life, who would be cast as your best friend?
Tina Fey! No, Amy Poehler! No, wait, Kristen Wiig? Or maybe Anna Kendrick. Or Rebel Wilson. Or anyone from Pitch Perfect.
5. How many fireplaces in one house is too many fireplaces?
Eleventy. Which is a nonsense number, because you can never have too many fireplaces.
6. What is your opinion on pets wearing miniature human-style clothes?
While this will always be cute on dogs and small mammals, I am especially for this option on reptiles. The juxtaposition is oddly adorable.
7. Is iced coffee an oxymoron?
Only in winter. #youknownothingjonsnow
8. Would you rather go skydiving or deep sea diving?
How about dumpster diving? Or diving into those pits full of giant foam squares at rec centers? Or diving into my own bed to sleep? I’m generally a fan of sleeping.
9. What is your least favorite flavor of ice cream?
Anything with fruit in it.
10. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? And would you use the power for good or evil?
Non-appendage-adding flight. i.e. zipping around like Superman, Storm, Thor, or Peter Pan. I would use my powers for awesome. And probably getting to work on time.
Thanks for having me!
