Once upon a time, in faraway Grimmlandia…
Red Riding Hood is thrilled to try out for the school play. Acting is her dream, and she’s great at it–too bad she has stage fright! After a grimmiserable audition, Red decides to focus on helping her friends Cinda, Snow, and Rapunzel save Grimm Academy from the E.V.I.L. Society. But when Red gets lost in Neverwood forest and runs into Wolfgang, who might be part of E.V.I.L., she needs her magic basket and a grimmazingly dramatic performance to figure out what’s going on!
So I have to admit this big time. These are the cutest little books ever. I’ve never been much of a fan of fairy tale retellings, but these were different. At first glance the covers really catch your eye. I can easily see any young elementary girl grabbing this book off the shelf because of it’s vibrant colors, size and long title and screams read me! Of course my 10 year old son, frowned when I showed him the books, but hey he doesn’t know what he’s missing. I’m sure my 13 year old will give them a try. Each story has characters that we are all familiar with. There are cute plays on words throughout the books.
The authors do a wonderful job of taking characters that most readers know and add their own special twist and descriptions Along with problems that must be solved, even with the help of some friends along the way these books keep you reading until the very last page. Cinderella and Red Riding Hood have 2 distinct stories to tell. Following their journey to get to the end of their stories will be an entertaining ride any young reader will not want to miss.
