Protected by her cousins, the short plain palms, the royal palm grew up beautiful, but very self-centered. Dreaming about life outside the island, she did not bother with her friends, who lived as one big family. Immersed in her own beauty, she only cared for herself, until one day a hurricane struck the tiny island. Then the royal p lam discovered the true meaning of family and real friendship. Inspiring story with valuable lessons to be learned and shared.

Runaway Clothes:  This vibrant and to the point short story, tells of Nika and her missing clothes.  Whom have run away all because she doesn’t take the time to put them away nice and neat as she should.   There is a lesson to be learned in this picture book by Mrs. D. As always the illustrations are very colorful and appealing.  In the end, I do believe that some of the word usuage and the theme of the story did not connect (a few words I thought were too advance for our little readers).  However, this most likely would be a read that would be between a mother and daughter, perhaps.  I’ll admit, I may have to lay this read around for my 13 year old daughter to stumble across and learn a valuable lesson from Nika.

The Royal Palm:  Another lesson to learn, is the focus of The Royal Palm.  It doesn’t pay to be unkind to others or rude.  Royal Palm learns the hard way that those characteristics cause you to be alone with no friends at all.  Mrs. D.  creates another children’s book with lots of descriptive wording  in place.  The illustrations are again very appropriate for the text and simply beautiful.  Mrs. D.  never shortens the content in her stories.  Every page is filled from top to bottom with great storylines.
