Title: A Sandy Grave
Author: Donna M. McDine
Publisher: Guardian Angel Publishing
Genre: Tween chapterbook
Format: Paperback, hardcover & eBook
The anticipation of summer vacation can put anyone in a great mood with the excitement of adventures to be had–especially at the beach. But what is a group of friends to do when they discover mysterious men poaching whale teeth at the beach?
A little bit of curiosity and determination creates a path of discovery for these young friends. A Sandy Grave has a message of standing up for what is right, the correct way. I never read a chapter book on the subject of poaching. However, the author creates a quick read for young readers that not only teaches a life lesson, but is truly a page turner for the reader. The friends featured are on a mission. This book has a very calming effect with the illustrations. The colors are perfect and do not take away from the content of the storyline. They compliment each other well. The author’s word usage is descriptive, bringing the events alive on each page. This easy, yet engaging read is definitely worth adding to your stack of reads.
